Technologie w produktach Buffalo

Firma Buffalo Technology w swoich produktach wykorzystuje najnowsze technologie i często autorskie rozwiązania.

AirStation One-Touch Secure System

Buffalo's AirStation One-Touch Secure System lets you create a secure wireless connection with push-button ease! Setting up a secure wireless network has always been difficult and complicated. Buffalo's AirStation OneTouch Secure System does all the tedious, technical stuff for you, making setting up a secure wireless network as easy as pushing a button.

With AOSS, users can set up the securest wireless network possible, easily and quickly. AOSS automatically detects and configures other AOSS enabled wireless devices and clients and seamlessly negotiates the most secure connection possible between your wireless devices.

When two or more AOSS clients attach to the AOSS network, the client and router automatically negotiate the highest level of security that the clients and router can support. In the above example, one of the AOSS clients supports both WEP and WPA level encryption (TKIP and AES), while the other supports only WEP. AOSS automatically adjusts the security to a level that both clients support. All Buffalo wireless products support WPA level of security.

BitTorrent - uTorrent Client

BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol used for efficiently distributing large amounts of data over the Internet. As one of the most common protocols for transferring large files, some estimates account BitTorrent for approximately 35% of all traffic on the entire Internet.

A BitTorrent client is any program that implements the BitTorrent protocol to manage file downloads and uploads. Each client is capable of preparing, requesting, and transmitting any type of computer file over a network using the protocol. Any computer running an instance of a client is referred to as a peer. Buffalo utilizes the most popular client technology, µTorrent, for its integrated BitTorrent utility on LinkStation and TeraStation network storage solutions.

Network Attached Storage devices are perfect hosts for integrated BitTorrent clients since network hard drives are usually on and always connected to the Internet. NAS devices can easily manage the simple task of independently downloading large files, meaning computers can be powered down, relieving users of the responsibility of keeping two devices running simultaneously. Buffalo has paired the popular µTorrent client with a number of its consumer and business grade NAS devices. This union allows users to offload the task of downloading torrent files to computers, delegating that action to the Buffalo NAS device, thereby freeing up their laptop or PC for other activities.

High Power technology

Tired of dead spots in your wireless network? Buffalo High Power technology can bring those dead spots back to life! Now you can go places you never could with standard 802.11g devices. Buffalo's products with High Power technology utilize a built-in amplifier to greatly improve performance of your wireless network - up to 3X the Range and 6X theSpeed of standard 802.11g. Whether you're upgrading your wireless LAN or just getting started, the Wireless-G MIMO Performance products provide the perfect answer for those who need speed, performance and value. Eliminate dead spots while enjoying faster connections and extended range. If you already have a wireless network at home and are experiencing range and speed problems, follow these two simple steps to improve performance and increase range!

Wireless 802.11 Technologies

W styczniu 2004 IEEE ogłosiło rozpoczęcie prac nad nowym standardem 802.11n. Ma on obejmować rozległe sieci bezprzewodowe.

WebAccess

Buffalo's Web Access feature allows Buffalo NAS (Networks Attached Storage) users to easily access and share files on their NAS with anyone who has access to the Internet. Simply send your friends a link via e-mail and they can securely access the files you've selected for them to see. Your friends don't need any special software.

Have you ever been on a business trip and realized you forgot to copy a presentation onto your notebook ? Maybe you just forgot to copy your favorite MP3s, videos or photos onto your MP3 player or notebook. With Buffalo's Web Access, you can always access your Buffalo NAS and its data, no matter where you are. Simply connect to your NAS device from any web browser and you can browse your file shares and directories.

Buffalo's Web Access has an integrated Flash MP3 player that allows users to stream their favorite music over the web. Simply press the play button on any MP3 and enjoy your music from anywhere. Buffalo's Web Access also is also optimized for the iPhone, rendering the content properly for display on the smaller screen of your phone. Simply access your NAS from the iPhone's Safari® Web Browser and have a true iPhone optimized experience.

Playback your music and video collection from anywhere using the iPhone's 3G or Wi-Fi connection.

With iPhone Web Access, your iPhone has direct access to multiple TeraBytes of storage! You can even watch videos that are located on the NAS at home from your iPhone on the road.

Buffalo's Web Access has an integrated digital photo viewer that fits images of any resolution to your screen and allows you to easily browse through multiple images with just a click of the mouse. Sharing photos is simple!

Rest assured your Buffalo Web Access Server is configurable to allow restricted access to any files or folders. Web Access can make all files and folders or just portions of your Buffalo NAS device accessible from the Internet. You can decide and restrict who is going to see what. Certain folders can allow anonymous access while others require users to provide usernames and passwords. Folders can be marked read-only or can be configured to allow users to rename, delete, and even upload files.

Access to Web Access is available over HTTPS 128-bit secured connections. This is the same technology web sites use when you provide your credit card information.

Finally, BuffaloNAS.com or Buffalo Technology does not have any access to your data. It is only used to initiate a peer-to-peer connection between the remote user and your private NAS device.

DLNA Technology

The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) has been set up to provide interoperability guidelines for the digital home, enabling PC, mobile and consumer electronics products to work seamlessly together, irrespective of the manufacturer.

It means that products complying with these guidelines can operate and interact with other compliant devices, ultimately realizing the 'digital home' concept that is talked about so often amongst consumers and the press. The consumer electronics industry is recognizing the potential that DLNA brings and a number of manufacturers, including Buffalo Technology, are already backing and actively promoting the standard. Such companies include Microsoft, Intel, Nokia, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba and Pioneer - and the list is growing!

With widespread adoption of the DLNA guidelines, consumers will be able to visit any number of retailers, e-tailers or indeed manufacturers directly to build their digital home piece by piece. They will not be restricted to a single manufacturer, meaning that they can shop around, compare prices and weigh up the functionality benefits to deliver the most cost effective solution for them. It will no longer take a technological genius to make one device talk to another within the digital home. With interoperability a key component of a product's functionality, set-up and inter-working will be simple and straightforward - all thanks to theDLNA guidelines and independence of manufacturers. Welcome to the digital home - it is now finally a reality for the consumer!
